Job Description:/h3:
Optimus and its manufacturing arm, Chanute Manufacturing, engineers and manufactures boilers, economizers, superheaters, and related equipment for the power and petrochemical industries. We are seeking a Structural or Mechanical Design Engineer to become a part of our team.
Design Engineer with 5+ years experience in ASME Section I and VIII boiler and/or pressure vessel design. Primary duties will include:
:Engineering of products related to boilers, economizers, superheaters, industrial and utility boiler components, and related equipment.
:Design of boiler tubes, headers, nozzles, tubesheets, lifting lugs, saddles, and supports to meet both internal pressure and external load conditions in accordance with ASME, AWS, and AISC standards.
:Power Boiler and Pressure Vessel ASME Code Calculations
:Prepare design data sheets and work with drafting to design components that meet performance requirements and comply with applicable Code requirements.
:Engineering of external components such as ladders and platforms, casing, and lagging systems as required.
:Use of CAE software tools for FEA, structural design, and piping design.
Secondary duties might include:
:Requisitioning of technical components such as expansion joints, slide plates, pressure vessels, etc.
:Specification of P and ID
:Field Service
:Opportunity for Thermal Design experience
Candidates with skills in the following areas may be preferred: controls experience; AutoCad; SolidWorks; Risa:3D; CAESAR II,, Excel; Word; or comparable software tools.
